What advantages can an engineering services provider offer an industrial company?

When I applied to SALT AND PEPPER eight years ago, I didn’t know any engineering services providers. I wasn’t even familiar with the sector.  A friend persuaded me by telling me about his positive interview. And I am glad, as I gain insights into a vast array of industries and technologies at SALT AND PEPPER.

What excites you at SALT AND PEPPER?

The sector was new to me and I didn’t really know what to expect, but that’s always the case with a new job. I was impressed by the people, their belief in SALT AND PEPPER and the start-up vibe. We have already put many of our plans from those days into practice. And as we have always stayed true to ourselves, I remain loyal to SALT AND PEPPER.

What is the most exciting part of your job as a Branch Manager?

I chose SALT AND PEPPER as an employer, because the company fosters both your own personal development and that of your colleagues. And as a Branch Manager, I am able to proactively shape the team’s development opportunities. It’s very exciting to see how my colleagues have developed and grown over the years.

What makes SALT AND PEPPER a good employer in your view?

As an engineer these days, you have countless opportunities to build a career that suits you.  I consciously chose a set of values that matches my own. Alongside our four corporate values, trust plays a crucial role for me. In SALT AND PEPPER, I have found a company that trusts me, gives me the opportunity to take responsibility and lets me make – and learn from – mistakes.

What are the typical duties of a Senior Team Leader at SALT AND PEPPER?

Regular client meetings, liaison with expert contacts and project generation/support account for a large part of my role. Other key duties of a Senior Team Leader include comprehensive applicant management and the associated orientation sessions and annual reviews.

What is the biggest challenge in your job?

The biggest challenge in my job lies in responding quickly and professionally to sudden project changes whilst still completing the day-to-day work of a Senior Team Leader. But this also makes my job very varied and exciting.

What is your role as a Senior Team Assistant?

Alongside classic duties such as managing applicants, clients and contracts, I also get the chance to develop and implement new projects. For example, the pilot project for the FutureUp! event series – where we work across departments and Group companies – launched in Leipzig. The partnership with Engineers without Borders is also very close to my heart.

How has your career at SALT AND PEPPER progressed so far?

I joined the company as a Team Assistant in 2011. I was able to return from parental leave on a part-time basis. By virtue of the continuous growth of SALT AND PEPPER, you are always meeting new people and encountering new challenges, which is a very rewarding experience. Over the years, I have risen to the position of Senior Team Assistant, a role that I can actively help to shape. I am also involved in decision-making.

Why did you choose SALT AND PEPPER?

With SALT AND PEPPER as an employer, I saw an ideal opportunity to put the skills and knowledge from my degree course to the test in challenging projects, thus gaining valuable professional experience in all kinds of sectors. I also really liked the idea of the ‘Job House’, which prepared me for my role with useful training sessions, especially as an entry-level candidate. Ultimately, however, the two interviews convinced me that SALT AND PEPPER was the right employer for me. I immediately sensed that there was something refreshing about the company. Instead of running through a standard set of HR questions, the interviewers were genuinely interested in me as a person. We spoke openly and on an equal footing. Even back then, this pointed to an amazing corporate culture, which is what ultimately persuaded me to join SALT AND PEPPER.

Where do you stand on the issue of temporary employment?

In my experience, many people are pretty dogmatic on the issue. When you talk to people, you soon realise that there is a strong tendency to generalise. Here at SALT AND PEPPER, I have had a very different experience and feel right at home.

If you had the choice: engineering services provider or industrial company?

As things stand, SALT AND PEPPER offers me optimum career opportunities and the scope to try things out. I soon get bored – and I can’t imagine committing to a particular path at the moment. I would definitely take the same approach again.
